Deputy Jay Goins of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Benjamin Joseph Goforth, 37, of Pittman Road in Marion, with felony possession of methamphetamine, felony maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.
Shortly after midnight on Friday, Jan. 2, Goins spotted a red car on U.S. 221 South that had no working taillights. He stopped the vehicle and learned that the operator, identified as Goforth, was driving on a suspended license.
A subsequent search of Goforth and the car allegedly turned up .30 gram of methamphetamine, three Oxycodone pills and drug paraphernalia.
