Deputy allegedly finds methamphetamine and pills after routine traffic stop
Deputy Jay Goins of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Benjamin Joseph Goforth, 37, of Pittman Road in Marion, with felony possession of methamphetamine, felony maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.
Shortly after midnight on Friday, Jan. 2, Goins spotted a red car on U.S. 221 South that had no working taillights. He stopped the vehicle and learned that the operator, identified as Goforth, was driving on a suspended license.
A subsequent search of Goforth and the car allegedly turned up .30 gram of methamphetamine, three Oxycodone pills and drug paraphernalia.
