Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Malibu Station deputies were dispatched to “Paradise Cove Beach” 28128 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu, on Thursday, January 1, 2015 at approximately 1:13 p.m., regarding a possible grenade washed up onto shore.

Desk personnel immediately notified the Arson/Explosives Detail (AED) and the United States’ Coast Guard.  Deputies cleared and contained the area waiting for AED team members to arrive.  Upon arrival, AED personnel rendered the device safe and took possession of the device.

Deputies searched the area for additional explosive devices, however, none were found and the beach was re-opened.
