UPDATE #2 - Body Found in Rural Sullivan County Cornfield Now Confirmed Homicide
At approximately 2:23 yesterday afternoon, the Indiana State Police along with the Sullivan Police and the Sullivan County Sheriff's Department responded to a cornfield located at CR 300 North and CR 325 East. A farmer had just located a body while he was harvesting corn.
Due to the condition of the body, investigators were unable to determine the person's sex or age. The autopsy performed today at Terre Haute Regional Hospital confirmed the investigation is now a Homicide case. Further attempts at positively identifying the victim will continue and investigators are hopeful a positive ID can be obtained by early next week.
This is an on-going investigation and further information will be released as it becomes available. Again, the body has yet to be positively identified and no arrests have been made at this point.
Anyone with any information regarding this case should contact Detective Michael Taylor at the Indiana State Police Putnamville Post at (812) 653-4114. Tips can remain anonymous.
