Man and Passengers Arrested After Attempt to Out Run Police
Indianapolis, IN- An Indianapolis man and his three passengers were arrested and are facing several charges after attempting to out run police over night.
Early this morning at approximately 12:17 a.m. Trooper Joshua Graves was monitoring traffic on I-465 NB at the 41.2 mm. (near Pendleton Pike) His radar registered a Toyota passenger car traveling NB at 114 mph in a 55 mph zone.
Trooper Graves caught up to the vehicle as it exited EB on 56th Street. The driver continued to disregard Graves emergency lights and siren and turned south on Shadeland Way. The eluding vehicle ran over a curb during the turn causing the front passenger tire to go flat, but continued to flee. The vehicle made a loop inside the Landings apartment complex and returned EB on 56th Street then SB on Post Road. Lawrence and Indianapolis Metropolitan officers joined the pursuit at this time, blocking all major intersections on Post Road. After several more turns the 15 minute pursuit concluded when the driver pulled into a in a yard on 10th Street. The driver, Brenton Ross, 22, of Indianapolis and three passengers were taken into custody.
Further investigation revealed that Ross was wanted on warrant for receiving stolen property and the Toyota vehicle he was operating had been reported stolen. Items located inside the vehicle had also been reported stolen to IMPD in a previous case they had been working. IMPD officers took custody of the three passengers and will charge them in regard to the theft case.
Trooper Graves incarcerated Ross in the Marion County Arrestee Processing Center for the outstanding warrant, possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting law enforcement with a motor vehicle and several traffic violations. He also will be facing charges from IMPD in connection with the earlier theft case they had been working.
