Leopard Can’t Change It’s Spots

On Saturday, December 27, 2014 at about 11:00 PM, an Anderson Police Officer responded to Safeway Market, located in the 2600 block of Balls Ferry Road, in Anderson, for a reported theft of property from a locker located in the employee break room/lounge. Safeway Management reported the theft of an employee’s personal property and provided video surveillance of the theft. The female suspect was not identified at the time and a report was taken regarding the theft.

On Sunday, December 28, 2014 at about 9:00 PM, Anderson Police Officers were again dispatched to a suspicious circumstance incident occurring at the same business where the female suspect had returned to the location to enter the employee break room/lounge area in an attempt to steal from the location again. Video surveillance of the attempted theft was again provided and the officers were able to view the surveillance footage of the female suspect. The suspect in both incidents turned out to be the same person and in the most recent incident, the suspect was observed to be wearing a full length Leopard-Print robe.

At about 1150 hours, the Anderson Police Officer assigned to the two burglary incidents, was on patrol in the area of the Anderson Walmart Store located in the 5000 Rhonda Road, when he observed the female suspect, who was still wearing the Leopard Print robe, from the two Safeway incidents.

The Officer made contact with the female who was later identified as 21 year old Chico resident, Halie Christine BECKLEY and her accomplice, 20 year old Chico resident, Cody Austin RYAN. Both were interviewed regarding the Safeway burglaries and admitted to their involvement. During the course of this investigation, BECKLEY confessed to the investigating officer stolen property from the Safeway burglary was contained inside her home. As a result, each consented to a search of their Chico residence. The Chico Police Department was notified and assisted in the attempted recovery of the stolen items.

As a result of this investigation, a criminal complaint for Burglary, Conspiracy to Commit Burglary, and Receiving Stolen Property will be filed with the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office for BECKLEY and RYAN.
