Illinois Man Arrested After Leading Trooper On A Vehicle Pursuit
Seymour – An Illinois man was arrested after leading a trooper on a vehicle pursuit on I-65 in Seymour.
On December 26, 2014 around 7:00 PM, Indiana State Police Trooper Matt Holley was behind a black 2003 BMW on I-65 attempting to pull it over for exceeding the speed limit. Trooper Holley had been behind the vehicle for over three miles as the driver refused to pull over. The driver pulls over near the 54 mm and Trooper Holley retrieves his license and registration. While Trooper Holley is completing the citation the driver, Alexander J. Mark 29, of Wheaton, Illinois drives away. Trooper Holley catches up to the BMW as Mark travels south on I-65, at times in excess of 90 mph. Mark exited I-65 at the Seymour interchange where his BMW was boxed in by Seymour Police and Trooper Holley at Sandy Creek Drive and US 50. Mark was taken into custody without further incident. During a search of the 2003 BMW, Trooper Holley located what appeared to be some marijuana.
Mark was transported to the Jackson County Jail where he was incarcerated facing a count of Resisting Law Enforcement (Fleeing using a vehicle)
, a Level 6 Felony and Possession of Marijuana, a Class A Misdemeanor.
Trooper Holley was assisted by Seymour Police during this incident.
