Pedestrian Struck and Killed on I-65

Indianapolis, IN- A man reported to be in the travel lanes of I-65 was struck and killed early this morning on the northwest side of Indianapolis.

This morning, December 26, 2014, at approximately 2:12 a.m., Indiana State Police received a report of a man in dark clothing walking in the roadway of I-65 SB at the 123.6 mm.

Prior to trooper’s arrival, dispatch received a call of a crash in the same area where the driver stated he had struck something in the roadway but was not certain what it was. The pedestrian was then struck by a 2014 Kia driven by Taylor Doyle, 21, of Lafayette IN. Doyle was not injured. Both drivers are cooperating with the investigation and submitted to blood draws. Investigators did suspect either driver to be under the influence of alcoholic beverages.

The pedestrian, identified as Ryan Miller, 37, of Indianapolis, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Marion County Coroner’s Office. It is unknown at this time why Miller was in the travel lanes of I-65. Investigators did not locate any disabled vehicles in the area that the man may have been walking from.
