UPDATE - Meth Investigation Leads to Pursuit, Standoff & Police Action Shooting

The Methamphetamine Investigation launched by the Indiana State Police Meth Suppression Team on December 17, 2014 resulted in the arrest of Justice Lee, 26 of Fort Ritner on Level Two charges of Dealing in Methamphetamine. Lee had been out on bond from a previous Level Two Dealing Methamphetamine charge from July of 2014.

A separate ongoing six month investigation on Bret Krout, 39 of Zionsville (deceased) for Dealing Methamphetamine had previously produced several felony warrants for his arrest.

Upon serving a search warrant in Lawrence County on Lee, information was legally obtained from Lee’s cellular telephone that was in her possession when the search warrant was served. As a result of investigative information obtained from the search warrant an additional search warrant was obtained to search Krout’s residence. While Krout’s residence was under surveillance, troopers observed Krout leave in a black Ford Mustang. When Troopers attempted to stop Krout, he fled. That led to the pursuit, standoff and ultimately Krout pointing his firearm at state police SWAT officers.

Any questions regarding Krout’s autopsy should be forwarded to the Owen County Coroner’s Office.

When the search warrant was executed at Krout’s residence troopers located over a half pound of crystal methamphetamine, firearms, and US currency totaling over $5,000. A search warrant was also executed on the black Ford Mustang driven by Krout where troopers located over a quarter pound of crystal methamphetamine, marijuana, three firearms, and over $25,000 in United States Currency.

Anyone with information about either case or possible illegal drug activity can contact the Bloomington State Police Post at (812) 332-4411.

Under the law, criminal charges are merely accusations and a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a Court of Law.
