Holiday Travel Advisory - Severe Weather Potential
Scattered thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and tonight over much of North and Central Georgia due to a warm front pushing northward into the region. A few may become severe, the main threats will be damaging winds, hail and heavy rain. An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out.
A strong cold front will push through on Wednesday. Rain and scattered thunderstorms are expected ahead of the front. Some of these storms could be severe with damaging winds, isolated tornadoes and heavy rain. The best risk for severe storms on Wednesday will be along and ahead of the cold front that will move into Western Georgia Wednesday morning.
Monitor NOAA Weather radio and/or local media outlets for additional statements and later warnings if required.
Instructions:
Heavy rain today, tonight and Christmas Eve day! 2 to 4 inches of rain are expected. The heaviest rain will fall tonight with minor flooding possible. Drive carefully and allow extra time to reach your destination.
