Keep doors & windows locked, report suspicious activity to 943-3030.
As we celebrate the Christmas Holiday, residents are reminded that criminals do not take the holiday off. Criminals may be on the look out for easy opportunities. Break the Crime Triangle (Ability, Desire, and Opportunity) by following the below suggestions:
- Turn your porch light on and use other outdoor lights.
- Keep all windows locked - Keep all doors locked
- Use deadbolt locks on exterior doors
- Never leave valuables in plain sight
- Keep your bushes and lawn neatly trimmed
- Use light timers for interior lights while you are out
- Keep your garage door closed and locked
- Get to know your neighbors
- Look out for your neighbors.
- Trust your instincts. If it seems suspicious, report it to police
- If you plan on being away from your home you can register your residence for the Dearborn Police Vacation House Check Program. Simply call 313.943.2241 and request to register for the Vacation House Check Program. Once registered, Dearborn Police Reserve Officers will periodically check the exterior of your home and property to ensure the property is secured.
Report any unusual or suspicious circumstance to the Suspicious Activity Hotline @ 313.943.3030. Callers speak directly to a police dispatcher and may remain anonymous. Report all POLICE / FIRE / MEDICAL EMERGENCIES TO 911.
