Putnamville Troopers Recognized for Longevity
Putnamville—At a post meeting held on December 19, six Putnamville troopers were recognized for longevity.
Putnamville District Commander, Lieutenant Dan Jones, was presented a 25-years-of-service certificate and uniform insignia by ISP Area V Commander, Captain Bob Burke. In November of 1989, Jones was a graduate of the ISP 47th Recruit Class and assigned to the former Terre Haute Post. In 2001, Jones was promoted to Sergeant at the Putnamville District and assigned to supervise troopers in Hendricks County. In 2004, Jones was promoted to First Sergeant, Assistant Commander, back at the Terre Haute District. In 2008, Jones was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and transferred to the Putnamville District to serve as district commander, a position he currently holds. During his tenure, Jones has served on the ISP SCUBA team, Tactical Intervention Platoon (TIP), Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) team, Field Training Officer, and was the recipient of a Combat Action Award. Jones was also a graduate of the 241st class of the FBI National Academy. Jones holds an Associate of Science degree in Criminology from Vincennes University. Jones also served four years active duty with US Marine Corps. He has four children and his wife is an ISP detective. The family resides in rural Parke County.
Master Trooper Gary Winters was presented his 25-years-of-service certificate and uniform insignia by Lt. Dan Jones. Winters was a graduate of the ISP 47th Recruit School and initially assigned to the Lafayette Post. Six years later, in 1995, Winters transferred to the former Terre Haute Post and patrolled Parke and Vermillion counties. During his tenure, he served four and a half years with a team of ISP investigators investigating multiple deaths at an area hospital. A former nurse was later convicted and sentenced to the Indiana Department of Corrections. Winters also served as a Field Training Officer, Background Investigator, and on the Tactical Intervention Platoon. Winters is the recipient of the ISP firearms award for his proficiency in firearms accuracy. Winters attended Indiana State University prior to joining the ISP. He and wife have three grown children and six grandchildren and the family resides in Parke County.
Master Trooper Todd Miles was presented his 25-years-of-service certificate and uniform insignia by Lt. Dan Jones. Miles was also a graduate of the ISP 47th recruit school. He was initially assigned to the Lowell Post for two years, before transferring to the former Terre Haute Post. During his tenure, Miles has served as a Field Training Officer, Background Investigator, on the Tactical Intervention Platoon, and on the High Performance Vehicle team where he was assigned a Chevrolet Camero targeting dangerous and erratic driving behaviors. In 1993, while assigned to the HPV squad, Miles received a Superintendent’s award for his DUI enforcement efforts. Miles had placed fifth overall on the department for DUI arrests. Miles is a Vigo County native and attended Indiana State University prior to joining the department. He is married with two children and the family resides in Vigo County.
Master Trooper Todd Brown was presented with his 20-years-of-service certificate and uniform insignia by Lt. Dan Jones. Brown is a graduate of the ISP 51st Recruit Academy in 1994 and was initially assigned to the Lowell Post for one year. Brown transferred to the former Terre Haute Post. During his tenure, Brown served on the Tactical Intervention Platoon and was the 2011 recipient of the Putnamville District Trooper of the Year Award. Brown is a Clay County native and a graduate of Indiana State University where holds an Associate Degree in Criminology. Brown patrols primarily Clay County and resides in rural Clay County.
Master Trooper Detective Don Anglin was presented with his 20-years-of-service and uniform insignia by Lt. Mike Campbell, Commander of Area V Investigations. Anglin began his career with the department as a civilian radio dispatcher at the Putnamville Post in 1994. In December of 1996, Anglin graduated from the 54th ISP Recruit School and was assigned to the Sellersburg Post. In January of 1999, he transferred to the former Terre Haute Post. In 2004, Anglin was promoted to the rank of Corporal and performed administrative duties. In 2013, Anglin sought and obtained a detective position within criminal investigations at the Putnamville Post. Detective Anglin is a Vigo County native and holds an Associate’s Degree in Management Information Systems from Ivy Tech Community College. Don and his wife, a retired member of the ISP, reside in rural Vermillion County.
Master Trooper Ty Lightle was presented with his 15-years-of-service award and upgrade from Senior Trooper to Master Trooper. Lightle is a graduate of the ISP 58th Recruit School held in 1999, and was initially assigned to the Bremen Post. In 2001, Lightle transferred to the former Terre Haute Post. During his tenure, Lightle has served as a Field Training Officer, in the Tactical Intervention Platoon, and in the High Performance Vehicle Squad where he targeted dangerous and erratic driving behaviors. Lightle is a Fountain County native and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology from Indiana State University. Lightle, his girlfriend, and two children reside in rural Parke County.
