Suspect Arrested for Road Rage Incident

Jasper County-Yesterday at approximately 10:27 p.m. on I-65 southbound near the 207 mile marker (that is two miles north of the US 231 exit at the 205 mm), Regional dispatch at Lowell received a call of a subject in a car pointing a gun at another driver.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Ben Rector of the Lafayette Post witnessed the alleged vehicle, a 2006 silver Dodge Caravan, southbound at the 178 mm in Tippecanoe County. With assistance from other Troopers from the post, a traffic stop was initiated at the 168 mm which is near the SR 38 exit. The driver, GERALD W. WINSTON, 69 of Indianapolis was taken into custody without incident. Winston was charged with Criminal Recklessness with a handgun and pointing a firearm at another person. He was transported and incarcerated at the Jasper County Jail.

Assisting in the traffic stop were Troopers Jared McQueary, Kent Wainscott, Stephen Grayson, Clayton Gum, David Vido, and Dexter Whitten.

I do not have a photo of Gerald W. Winston. You will have to contact the Jasper County Jail for assistance.

Suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
