Press Release: Attempted Car Burglaries Result in Three Arrests

LOCATION: Wardell Place

OFFICERS INVOLVED: Officers Nicholas Castellano, Dean Schoch II, Kyle Kane, Detectives Michael Melody and Jeffrey Malone and Detective Sergeant Thomas Burke.

ACCUSED: John P. Bradley Jr. age 18 Neptune, NJ
Kahlil T. Platts age 19 Long Branch, NJ
16 year old male from Neptune, NJ

NARRATIVE:
On 12/18/14 at approximately 9:43 pm, officers from the Township of Ocean Police Department responded to the area of Wardell Place when a resident observed three subjects trying to open random car doors. When officers arrived, they located two adults males and one juvenile male in the area. An investigation revealed that the three subjects were attempting to burglarize vehicles on Wardell Place and all three were placed under arrest and taken into custody.

John P. Bradley Jr and Kahlil T. Platts were both charged criminal attempted burglary and released on complaint summonses to appear at a future court hearing. The 16 year old juvenile was released into the custody of his mother. Juvenile charges will be forwarded to the Monmouth County Family Division Court for disposition.

Police are asking residents throughout the township to take extra care in locking their vehicles and parking in a lighted area at night whenever possible. *Also, remove cash and portable electronic devices such as I-pods, cell phones and GPS units from the vehicle when parking and leaving the vehicle. Do not leave anything of value that can easily be seen from outside the vehicle.

Anyone that may have information or witnessed any suspicious activity are asked to contact the Ocean Township Police Detective Bureau at 732-531-1800. Also, if you suspect
your vehicle was in fact entered, please notify the police prior to going through it or driving it away.
