Rollover Semi Pins Driver Under Cab

Clinton County-This evening at around 7:41 p.m. on I-65 southbound near the 151 mm (that is approximately five miles north of SR 47 exit), a semi drifts off the roadway and rolls pinning the driver under the cab.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Dexter Whitten of the Lafayette State Police Post has revealed that a white 1998 International owned by Harbor Bridge Company pulling a 1991 intermodal trailer with a cargo box loaded with household goods was southbound when for an unknown reason drifted off the right side of the interstate. The semi hit a state owned information sign and continued off the roadway into the ditch where it came to rest on its top. The driver, William A. Davis, 73 of Chicago was pinned underneath the cab area. Frankfort Fire and EMS arrived and assisted in extricating Davis from under the cab. He was transported to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis by IU Lifeline helicopter with non life threatening injuries.

Southbound lanes of I-65 were shut down for about an hour while crews worked to free Mr. Davis and land the helicopter. The left lane is now open with the right lane shut down for removal of the semi and cleanup. It is unknown at this time how long the right lane will be closed.

At this time it is unknown if a seatbelt was used. Assisting at the scene was Trooper Jared McQueary, units from the ISP Commercial Motor Vehicle Section, Frankfort Fire and Rescue, Frankfort EMS, IU Lifeline Helicopter and Zore’s Wrecker Service.

Suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
