Armed Robbery at Bank ATM

At about 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon (12-17-14) a 20-year old woman was confronted by a man armed with a handgun while at a drive-up ATM outside the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 2970 Harbor Blvd. The victim, who had a child in the back seat of her car, had just completed a transaction and her window was still down when the suspect approached, pointing a handgun at her and demanding $500 in cash.

Fearful for her own safety and that of the child with her, the victim complied with the robber’s request, however was only able to withdraw $300 from the ATM. The suspect took the money and fled in an unknown direction on foot. The victim drove from the immediate area, stopping a short distance away and calling 911. Neither the victim nor the child were injured during the robbery.

The suspect was described as being a male, White, appearing to be in his mid-20’s, about 6 ft. tall and 200 lbs, with an unshaven appearance. He was additionally described as wearing a black beanie, black jacket with hood, black scarf and sunglasses.

A short time later, a man with a gun, described similarly to the suspect above, was reported entering the Chase Bank branch in the 100 block of E. 17th Street, however was gone by the time responding officers had arrived. No robbery was reported at that location.
