Two Arrested After Drug Raid At North Vernon Home
North Vernon: Two North Vernon men were arrested after police conducted a drug raid at a residence in North Vernon. On December 17, 2014, around 0500 AM, troopers of the Indiana State Police South Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a search warrant at a residence on Rensleer Street in North Vernon. The warrant was obtained as a result of a joint investigation between the Indiana State Police and Jennings County Sheriff Office on suspected drug activity at the residence. Troopers and deputies conducted the raid.
According to Indiana State Police Trooper Randel Miller, police seized heroin packaged for distribution, handguns, marijuana, scales, controlled substances and other drug paraphernalia during the search.
Arrested as a result of this search was: Floyd Wayne Johnson III 26, of North Vernon. Johnson was charged with Dealing in Heroin with a firearm, Level 3 Felony, Possession of Heroin, Level 6 Felony, Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Level 6 Felony, Possession of a Syringe, Level 6 Felony and Possession of Paraphernalia, Class A Misdemeanor.
Also arrested at the residence was James Hatter 38, of North Vernon. Hatter was charged with Possession of Heroin, Possession of Controlled Substances (2 counts), Maintaining a Common Nuisance, all Level 6 Felonies and Resisting Law Enforcement and Possession of a Syringe, both Class A Misdemeanors.
Both men were transported to the jennings County Jail without further incident.
Trooper Miller credits these arrests to citizen's tips who "saw something and said something!"
