"Map your Neighborhood" for Disaster Preparedness

Altadena CERT, the Altadena Coalition of Neighborhood Associations, and ALERT (Altadena Local Emergency Radio Team)  will be launching an initiative to prepare neighborhoods for coping with disaster.

Part of a national program, "Map Your Neighborhood" creates a list of neighborhood resources and vulnerabilites that would be good to know in case disaster strikes.  The plan includes identifying the location of all gas shut-offs, people who may need extra help in a disaster including the elderly and disabled, and creating teams that will check and monitor the neighborhood after disaster strikes.

On January 27, 2015,  the Altadena CERT Management Team will talk about the MYN at the regular ACONA meeting, which start at 7 PM at the Altadena Main Library, 600 E. Mariposa Street.  Speakers include Steve Reagan, MYN Committee Chair;  Liz Giordano, CERT's Red Cross Liaison; Deb Halberstadt, Facilitator Trainer ; and Nancee Darling of ALERT will be the presenters.
