Press Release: Drug Arrests

ACCUSED: Nicole R. Sterns, age 30 Keansburg NJ
Jomell A. Brathwaite, age 32 Neptune NJ

NARRATIVE:
On 12/17/14 at approximately 11:29 pm Officer Dean Schoch II was on patrol in the area of the Asbury Park Circle when he observed a vehicle, being operated by Nicole R. Sterns, make an unsafe lane change. Officer Schoch stopped the vehicle and an investigation revealed that Ms. Sterns and her passenger, Jomell A. Brathwaite, were in possession of narcotic paraphernalia (crack pipe) and prescription legend drugs without a prescription. A further investigation revealed that Mr. Brathwaite was in possession of large knife and they were both placed under arrest.

Ms. Sterns was charged with possession of a prescription legend drug without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia. Additionally she was issued motor vehicle summonses for making an unsafe lane change and possession of drugs inside a motor vehicle. She was released on summonses pending a future court hearing.

Mr. Brathwaite was charged with possession of a prescription legend drug and unlawful possession of a weapon. During his arrest it was learned that he was wanted on a contempt of court warrant from Toms River and Keyport. Bail was set on the Toms River warrant at $1500. and $750.00 on the Keyport warrant. Mr. Brathwaite was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution to await a future court hearing.
