Juan Carlos Perez, currently on PRCS Parole, arrested for Evading and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle

INCIDENT: CVC 2800.2 Evading a Peace Officer and PC 496 Possession of Stolen Vehicle
LOCATION: Arrow Rt/ Locust Ave, Fontana
SUSPECT: Juan Carlos Perez, 25 years of age, resident of Fontana
SUMMARY:
On December 16, 2014, at about 4:55 p.m., Detective J. Parker of the Fontana Station observed a 1997 Honda Civic occupied by several subjects. Parker conducted a license plate inquiry and discovered the vehicle was reported stolen from Fontana on December 15, 2014. Parker followed the stolen vehicle as assisting detectives responded. Detectives attempted to stop the stolen vehicle but the vehicle accelerated and failed to yield. A vehicle pursuit was initiated and continued into the City of Rialto as the driver drove at a high rate of speed and ignored posted trafiic signals. The pursuit ended when the vehicle collided into a metal storage container in a residential area. The driver fled on foot and scaled several fences, with detectives in foot pursuit. With the assistance of the Sheriff's helicopter, detectives took the driver into custody at a nearby business.
The driver was identified as Juan Carlos Perez, a convicted felon and currently on PRCS parole. Perez was booked into the West Valley Detention Center for 2800.2 Felony Evading and PC 496 Possession of Stolen Vehicle. A passenger, Cordero Chavez, 28 years of age, was booked for violation of Mandatory Supervision Probation.
