Newhall, Zone 6, Public Safety and Crime Prevention Info for the week of 12/08/14 through 12/14/14.

A look back at the crimes reported in the Newhall area last week.

Between Thursday the 11th at 5:30 p.m., and Friday the 12th at 5:10 a.m., a vehicle inside an attached garage was burglarized in the 23700 Valle Del Oro.  A window was smashed and hand tools were stolen.

A small fire was intentionally started in the 24600 block of Walnut Street sometime between Friday the 5th, and Monday the 8th.  Although damage to property was minor, the incident is being investigated an arson.

If you may have been a witness to one of the crimes listed, or any crime, detectives could use information to help solve the crime.  Call the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s station at (661)255-1121.  If you want to remain anonymous, you can call Crime Stoppers at (800)222-8477, or text the letters, TIPLA plus your tip to 274637.

A Chevy “Tahoe” was burglarized on Sunday the 14th, between 2:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., near Costa Brava and Valle Del Oro.  The 3rd row seat, a purse, and a digital camera were stolen from the vehicle.

On Tuesday the 9th at 2:00 p.m., a bicycle was stolen from the 24300 block of Newhall Avenue.  The bike was described as red and black, 1 speed, with a flat front tire.  A witness believes they may have seen 2 male adults with tattoos down both arms, pushing the bike away from the location.

On Monday the 8th at 4:40 a.m., a cargo trailer was stolen from a business in the23800 block of Pine Street.  The trailer was recovered by LAPD on Thursday the 11th attached to a stolen truck.

An 18 year old female was arrested last week for having narcotics on a school campus, and a 37 year old male was arrested for punching a neighbor during an argument.

Remember to lock your doors and windows, don’t leave packages or valuables in plain view, and be aware of your surroundings.  Be a good neighbor and report suspicious behavior.  If you have packages delivered to your business or residence, be sure somebody is available to receive them.  Any type of package left unattended or visible, is a very tempting treat for a would-be thief.
