Advisory

We've recently taken reports for delivery thefts. Check these safety ideas.

- If your employer allows, have packages delivered to your office.

- Have the packages delivered to a place where they can be received
in person. Such as a trusted neighbor or a relative who is home.

- Request the shipper require a signature, or hold your package at
their pick-up facility, such as the UPS or FedEx office, so you can
pick it up at your convenience.

- When purchasing from a large retailer, request that your package be
delivered to a local branch of the store, so you can pick it up at your
convenience.

- Request a specific delivery date and time from the shipper when you
know you will be home.

- Provide delivery instructions to the shipper so that packages can be
left at a safe location.

- Sign up for delivery alerts from the shipper so you know when they
should arrive.

- Keep an eye on your neighborhood and report suspicious persons
and vehicles sitting or cruising the area. “See something, Say
something!”

- Utilize a “mailbox” business in your city & see if they will accept
shipment of your items for a fee.

- If you do not receive your shipment on time, check with the company
of origin and confirm the delivery. If the item was delivered and you
did not receive it, then report the theft or loss to the original
company, the shipping company, and your local police.
