Martin County (Shoals): Three people are behind bars this evening after an investigation in Shoals by the Indiana State Police and Indiana Parole Officers.

Around 10:50 this morning, Trooper Jarrod Lents assisted two Indiana Parole Officers in conducting a parole search at 15885 Ivy Lane, Shoals, the home of 47 year old Darren Bruce Stone. Officers were met at the front door by Julie E. Lents, 32, Shoals. Lents stated that she and Katie D. Stone-Payne, 20, Shoals, were the only two present. Trooper Lents, in order to ensure the safety of the officers present in the residence, performed a protective sweep of the residence. Stone was found by Trooper Lents, hiding behind a shower curtain in the shower.

While in the residence, officers observed a loaded .22 caliber handgun, marijuana roaches, and drug paraphernalia, all in plain view of where they were standing in the living room. As a convicted serious violent felon, Stone was prohibited from being in possession of a firearm. A search warrant for the residence and outbuildings was obtained through the Martin County Prosecutor’s Office, which led officers to find two baggies of marijuana, a straw containing methamphetamine, and additional paraphernalia items.

Stone, Lents, and Payne were all arrested and lodged in the Martin County Jail. State Police and State Parole Officers were assisted by the Martin County Sheriff’s Department.
