(Etowah County, Alabama) A Hokes Bluff man has been arrested in connection to a hunting incident, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

“Mark Shaw Hunt, 44, of Hokes Bluff, was arrested today and is charged with one count of first degree assault, which is a felony,” investigator Fred Lasseter said.

Hunt shot Dr. Christopher Clark, of Gadsden, in both legs while hunting in a field off of Norton Lane in the Ball Play community. Hunt was aware that Dr. Clark was also in the field.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 9-1-1 call shortly after 5:00 p.m., on Saturday, December 13. Dr. Clark was flown from the scene to a Birmingham hospital where he is still recovering.

Hunt is currently being detained in the Etowah County Detention Center on $10,000 cash bond.
