Operation Motor Santa Wednesday December 17, 2014

Oakland, CA — On Wednesday December 17, 2014, the Oakland Police Department Traffic Division will conduct its annual “Motor Santa” Operation to provide toys to children (up to the age of 12) throughout the City of Oakland.

In this Traffic Division tradition, a traffic officer dresses up as Santa and rides his motorcycle throughout the City of Oakland, passing out toys to children he encounters along the way. Says Traffic Division Commander Lieutenant Peter Lau, “This is one way we give back to the community.” Chief Sean Whent agrees. “This is community policing at its best. It’s something our officers look forward to each year.”

The event is scheduled to take place as follows:
DATE: Wednesday, December 17, 2014
TIME: 6:45 AM ( 6:45 AM-7:00 AM - for media interviews ask for Officer Pete Huppert/Santa)
WHO: Oakland Police Department Traffic Officers
LOCATION: Beginning at 2751-73rd Avenue (Eastmont Substation), ending in West Oakland.

This is the 8th Annual toy give-away coordinated by the Traffic Division. Over 175 toys were purchased with money donated from members and employees of the Traffic Division and the Oakland Police Foundation. In addition, Toys R Us – Dublin (Adam Lewis, Store Manager) contributed to this effort.

For additional information contact Lieutenant Lau at (510) 773-1225.
