MAIN IMPACTS

Maximum rainfall rates between 0.25 to 0.33 inch per hour are expected with Storm #2, but could be locally higher in isolated thunderstorm activity through Wednesday morning.

Brief roadway and underpass flooding due to poor drainage.

Highway congestion and accidents, especially during the Wednesday morning commute.

High surf and strong rip currents along west-facing beaches through Wednesday evening.

Potential for 6 inch snow accumulations in the mountains above 6000 feet late tonight and Wednesday.

SYNOPSIS

A weak storm system over the Channel Islands this morning will continue to generate scattered showers mainly across Los Angeles County through the afternoon. Majority of rain rates will remain below 0.25 inch per hour. There will be a break in the showers this evening, however, the next storm will increase rain across the central coast (San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties) before midnight. Widespread rain will spread southward across Ventura and Los Angeles Counties before sunrise Wednesday and linger into the afternoon hours. Rainfall totals of 0.50 to 0.75 inches are expected with upwards of 1.5 inches in the higher mountains. Rain rates up to 0.33 inch per hour will be possible and briefly higher in any thunderstorm activity.

A drying trend is expected Wednesday night and high pressure will slowly build over southwest California through the upcoming weekend and into Christmas week.
