Bloomington – A report taken by the Indiana State Police at the Bloomington Post indicates a scam has come back to the area. A complainant advised he has received up to 4 calls a day from a number that is identified as “911” with no other information. Upon answering, a recording plays a male voice telling him he has a warrant for his arrest for a felony charge. The message goes on to say that he should stay on the phone to talk to an agent, and to have his debit or credit card ready for processing to take care of his bail money over the phone, thus avoiding jail time.
The Indiana State Police would like to remind Hoosiers that calls received asking for personal information or those trying to convince you of something that you should have previously known are most always a scam. These calls can always be verified before becoming a victim.
ISP encourages anyone who receives these calls to report the information to your local law enforcement agency or nearest Indiana State Police Post.
