Crown Point Man Seriously Injured in Crash
Crown Point, Lakes of the Four Seasons-A Crown Point man was seriously injured when he lost control of his vehicle yesterday evening hitting a tree.
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Zachary Beaver revealed that at approximately 5:30 p.m., yesterday, December 15, 2014, evening, a 2002 Chevrolet driven by Darrell Head, 56 of Crown Point, was south bound near the 13400 block of Montgomery when the Chevrolet crossed the center line. The car then drifted off the east side of the road striking a heavy metal mail box, the Chevrolet then began to spin where it scraped a telephone pole, and then hit a large tree with its passenger side rear tire and quarter panel. It then came to rest facing west.
Head was not wearing a seat belt and suffered serious injuries. He was taken to Saint Anthony’s Hospital in Crown Point. He was traveling with a family pet which was not injured. Alcohol was a factor-tested .25% B.A.C.
Head was cited for Driving Left of Center, Unsafe Lane Movement, Seat Belt Violation, and charges are pending for Operating While Intoxicated through the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office.
