Good afternoon Saugus. The following Part 1 crimes were reported in Saugus over the past week:
A strong arm robbery was reported at the corner of Berino Drive/Espuella Drive on December 12th. The victim had his phone ripped from his hand while he was in a heated argument with a neighbor. Santa Clarita Detectives are handling this case.
A petty theft occurred in the 27500 block of Seco Canyon Road on December 13th. The victim let the suspect borrow her phone while seated in a local eating establishment. The suspect pretended to make a phone call then ran from the location with the phone. The victim and a witness gave chase but lost sight of the suspect. Detectives are working on leads to this incident
With a lot of people doing their holiday shopping online I want to warn you about a crime trend we saw last year. It is common practice for criminals to follow USPS and other delivery trucks around when they make their deliveries. When there is no answer at the door some deliveries are left on the porch for you to get when you arrive home. Criminals are using this opportunity to steal these items which normally go unreported for about a week when the victim realizes their package never came. Most delivery services offer an option for the need of a signature upon delivery. Please look into this option when ordering holiday items to your residence.
