Good morning,
Early Saturday morning, a robbery took place on Lee Avenue. Shortly after midnight, a pre-arranged meeting to buy/sell a cell phone took place. The 18 year old seller of the phone met with the buyer on Lee Avenue, and was then ambushed by other suspect's moments later. The victim was dragged from his vehicle and assaulted by the suspects, who stole money and attempted to steal the cell phone. The three suspects split up and fled, both on foot and in a vehicle. The fleeing vehicle was stopped by a Patrol unit that was in the area, and responding Officers located the other suspects on foot a short distance away. All three were taken into custody, and will be charged with multiple crimes, including robbery, theft, and possession of a weapon. All suspects are juveniles, and the matter is being further investigated by Detectives.
Please be reminded to use caution when meeting strangers for these types of transactions. If necessary, meet during daylight hours, and preferably in a public location.
