Wayne County – Saturday afternoon a Pendleton Trooper who stopped to help a motorist that was pulled off on the side of the road ended up arresting the man for possessing a narcotic. Trooper Scott McPheeters was south bound on SR1 shortly after 2 p.m. on Saturday, when he saw a maroon passenger car pulled off on the north bound side of SR1 in the area of Cheesman Rd.

As McPheeters got closer he saw a male standing in front of the vehicle working on the hood, and a female with two small children sitting in the vehicle. McPheeters turned around and pulled his police car in behind the maroon vehicle and got out to see if he could help. After speaking to the male, Chad Albright Jr., age 29 of Muncie, he realized the subject appeared intoxicated on alcohol or drugs.

Further investigation revealed Albright was in possession of a hypodermic needle and a substance believed to be heroin. Trooper McPheeters arrested Albright and charged him with Possession of a Narcotic, Level 6 Felony; Possession of a Hypodermic Needle, Level 6 Felony; Maintaining A Common Nuisance, Level 6 Felony and Public Intoxication, a Class “B” Misdemeanor.

Albright was lodged in the Wayne County Jail. The investigation is ongoing and further charges could be filed.
