Missing 20 Yr-Old Ashlee Armond Found Deceased After Vehicle Located in Los Cerritos Channel Submerged in Water

UPDATE:

Late last night, Long Beach Police located a vehicle submerged in the Los Cerritos Channel at 5th Street, east of Silvera Avenue. It was believed that the vehicle could possibly be the vehicle related to the missing person’s investigation involving 20-year-old Ashlee Armond.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel, including their dive team, responded to the location and began a rescue operation. The vehicle was identified as the 2001 green Honda Civic being driven by Ashlee Armond. The driver of the vehicle was located and removed, and pronounced deceased at the scene. It was determined that the driver was Ashlee Armond.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver was travelling eastbound on 5th Street, when she failed to stop at the end of the roadway and drove into the Los Cerritos Channel. Based on their investigation, detectives believe the collision was accidental.

The Long Beach Police Dive team responded to recover the vehicle from the channel.

ORIGINAL RELEASE:

On Saturday, December 13, 2014, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Long Beach Police received a missing person report of a 20-year-old Long Beach female, and are asking for the public’s help in locating her.

The female was last seen just after midnight on Saturday leaving a friend’s house in her vehicle from the area of 7th Street and Margo Avenue in East Long Beach, and never arrived at her destination in the area of Palo Verde Avenue and Del Amo Boulevard, also located in East Long Beach.

All attempts to locate her have failed and she has never gone missing before. She is very dependable and stays in contact with family and friends. She failed to show up for work today, which is also very unusual. The circumstances of her disappearance appear suspicious and we are asking for the public’s help in locating her or her vehicle.

Race: Hispanic
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Brown
Clothing: Black hooded sweatshirt, red t-shirt, black yoga pants
Vehicle: 2001 dark green Honda Accord – License plate #4YDU298
