Newhall, Zone 6, Public Safety and Crime Prevention Info for the week of 12/01/14 through 12/07/14.

A look back at the crimes reported in the Newhall area last week.

Between Friday the 21st at 3:30 p.m., and Monday the 1st at 6:55 a.m., a business in the 24600 block of Walnut Street was burglarized.  The location had been searched through but nothing appeared to be missing.

On Sunday the 7th, at 3:50 a.m., a vehicle was burglarized in the 24300 block of Wabuska Street.  The suspect was seen breaking a window on the victim’s vehicle but nothing appeared to be missing.

On Friday the 5th, between 2:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., a 1997 Chevy Suburban was stolen from the area near 21900 Bottletree Lane.  The vehicle was recovered two days later in Newhall.

On Monday the 1st a 24 year old male was arrested at in the 23400 block of Lyons Avenue for shoplifting alcohol and food.

On Sunday the 7th a 19 year old male was arrested in the 24000 block of Lyons Avenue for shoplifting soda and candy on a dare.

There were 3 narcotic related arrests in Newhall last week, one of which also involved the possession of forged credit cards.

With the holidays upon us, we all need to be extra careful securing our belongings.  Remember to lock your doors and windows, don’t leave packages or valuables in plain view, be aware of your surroundings, and report suspicious behavior.  If you have packages delivered to your business or residence, be sure somebody is available to receive them.  Any type of package left unattended or visible, is a very tempting treat for a would-be thief.
