HCSO Explorers to Bring Holiday Cheer to Needy Children
HARRIS COUNTY, TX – Santa Claus will join Sheriff Adrian Garcia and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Explorers, to deliver Holiday cheer to needy children in Harris County on Saturday.
Since 2012, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Explorers have joined Sheriff Garcia in collecting gifts to deliver to children under the care of the Tejano Center for Community Concerns. Most of the children are either orphaned or living in foster care during their time with the Tejano Center. Harris County Sheriffs’ Explorers and their deputy Advisors will deliver their gifts during an event at the Raul Yzaguirre School of Success: an open enrollment charter school and subsidiary of the Tejano Center.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office operates the largest Police Exploring program in the State of Texas, and the second largest program nationwide. In 2011, Sheriff Adrian Garcia formed the first Post at the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. Since inception the program has grown to 235 Explorers operating eight posts throughout Houston and Harris County.
