Sonoma County Storm Preparations: latest forecasts indicate reduced flooding impacts
The Sonoma Sheriff's Office, in conjuction with the County of Sonoma Emergency Operations Center are providing the most recent forecast from the California Nevada River Forecast Center is indicating reduced flooding impacts from the winter storm that began in Sonoma County yesterday.
The latest modeling indicates that the peak of the Russian River flooding will occur at 10am tomorrow morning, at a reduced crest of 33.9 ft.
Given the reduction in anticipated flood levels, the County will limit its recommendation for voluntary evacuation to the lowest lying areas near the Russian River.
All residents are encouraged to avoid flooded areas both for their own safety, and to allow for efficient emergency response.
The County will continue to monitor the storm, and provide updated information as it becomes available. The County will also continue to post new information to its website sonomacounty.ca.gov, including information on shelters, power outages, school and road closures, safety information, sandbag locations, and rainfall totals.
