Storm Update and Road Closures #FremontStormWatch

City Staff are currently responding to numerous storm related calls throughout the City.  The majority of the calls are related to clogged storm drains and downed trees, but we have also responded to vehicles stuck in water and traffic collisions. The calls began to come in at approximately 7:00 a.m. and hit a peak between 9:05 a.m. - 9:50 a.m.

We strongly encourage residents to continue to monitor water levels and clear debris from storm drains if possible.  City Maintenance is working closely with Fremont Fire and Police in response to the calls for service and calls are being prioritized based on safety.   The City still has sand.  Unfortunately, Ardenwood Fire (Station 10) and the City Corporation Yard are out of sand bags.  Fire Station 5 (Hackamore) in Warm Springs still has a limited supply. A shipment of sandbags bags is expected mid-afternoon and will be distributed to each of the sand locations.

The following roads are now closed in Fremont:

- Sullivan Underpass in Niles

- Palomares Canyon Rd. (Niles Canyon is open, but boulders have fallen onto the roadway)

- The grade separation pass at Warren Ave in Warm Springs
