APD arrest man in Tuesday evening’s burglary in northeast Amarillo.

On Wednesday December 10th at 7:23pm, APD officers were dispatched to the 2700 block of Cooper in reference a burglary that had just occurred. Responding officers were advised the 2 suspects were attempting to leave the scene in a stolen red Honda SUV with Colorado licenses plates. Upon arrival officers set up a perimeter and began searching the area for the suspects. While officers were continuing their search, one officer spoke with the complainant who stated that she walked out of the house into the garage when she observed a W/M inside her vehicle while it was parked in the garage. As she yelled out for help, the suspect got out of the vehicle and ran to the red SUV that was in the alley. The suspect attempted to start the SUV and leave however the SUV would not start so the suspect took off running down the alley. The passenger in the SUV also got out of the vehicle and took off running as well. Officers with the aid of a Police K-9 unit searched the area and located one subject who was later arrested. The second subject was not located. The suspect is identified as Brandon Scott Rice W/M 22 of Amarillo. Rice was transported and booked into Potter County Corrections Center on a charge of Burglary of a Habitation; an outstanding Parole Warrant with an original charge of Robbery, and one outstanding local municipal warrant.
