Storm Awareness:

The National Weather Service is reporting a strong storm will arrive in our city within the next few hours and last a period of time. In an effort to stay safe and reduce risk to your person and property in our community please consider this advice:

-Clean out your house and street gutters of leaves and debris
-Report any clogged drains on public roadways immediately to the city 943-5800
-Keep children and pets away from creeks and tributaries that lead to our creeks
-Always drive with your head lights on when it’s raining
-Drive slower
-Replace your windshield wiper blades
-Anticipate hazards and have a plan
-Do not drive into flooded areas
-Do not let children play in flooded areas due to contaminants (sewer water, chemicals and dangerous debris under the water)
-Treat all downed wires as live wires and call the police department immediately 935-6400
-Wear brighter clothes or reflective clothes
-Be mindful of falling trees and limbs during windy conditions and when the soil is saturated
-Plan for power outages
-Stay calm
-Look after your neighbors
