School Donates Blankets to ISP for Children in Need
Putnam County—Often times, troopers come in contact with children during traumatic events. To ease the child’s psychological distress and create an environment of emotional comfort, troopers from the Putnamville Post received a dozen blankets from the South Putnam High School Interact Club. Troopers assigned to Putnam County will carry the blankets in their police cruisers to provide to children in the time of need.
The fleece blankets were presented to the Putnamville District this afternoon at South Putnam High School. Accepting on behalf of the ISP were Putnam County Squad Sergeant Cory Robinson and Putnam County Troopers Mike Wood and Yan Dravigne. Presenting the blankets were South Putnam High School Faculty Advisor Elaine Bye and seventeen members of the high school Interact Club.
As a community service project, students worked on the blankets during the school year, before school hours and at times, during study hall periods. The South Putnam High School Interact Club is the youth version of a Rotary Club and the Interact Club sponsor is the Greencastle Rotary Club.
S.P.H.S. Faculty Advisor Elaine Bye stated, “This project was a great way for our students to give back to their community”.
ISP Sergeant Cory Robinson stated, “The blankets will allow troopers to provide a bright spot for children during a stressful and frightening time and we are very thankful the Interact Club had the foresight to provide such a valuable donation”.
