On Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at approximately 10:45 a.m., investigators with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with Southern Pride Search Dogs (Clyde, NC), Sandy Mush Volunteer Fire Department, Rutherford County Emergency Management and Rutherford County Rescue, located the body of Mr. Aaron Dale Crawford, age 24, in the woods between Harris-Henrietta Road and Chase High School.

An autopsy, to include a full toxicology report, is scheduled for Thursday, December 11 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem to aid in determining the cause of death.

Crawford was involved in a wreck on Sunday morning, December 7, in front of Chase High School.

Witness statements indicated that Crawford left the scene and travelled on foot into the woods behind Chase High School.

In attempt to locate Crawford, an initial search was performed in the immediate wooded area by the NC State Highway Patrol, Rutherford County Sheriff’s Deputies and Sandy Mush Volunteer Fire Department. However, no clues to Mr. Crawford’s whereabouts were discovered.

Crawford was reported missing on Monday, December 8, at 9:58 p.m.

On December 8, 2014 the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office took a missing person report on Aaron Dale Crawford, 24, of Rutherfordton.

On December 7, 2014 the North Carolina Highway Patrol investigated an accident involving Crawford’s vehicle on Chase High Road in Forest City.

Crawford was not around the vehicle and witnesses saw Crawford run off into the woods.

Crawford has not been seen or heard since.

It is not certain if Crawford was injured in the accident or not.

Crawford is five foot eight inches tall and weighs around 160 pounds.

Crawford was last seen wearing black coveralls, a gray Dickies jacket and a black and yellow Steelers ball cap.
