Man burned in Tuesday evening assault on S. Jackson...no arrests

On 12-9-14, at about 10:18 PM, officers were sent to a home in the 800 block of S. Jackson on an aggravated assault in which the victim had been burned.  Officers found the victim, a BM 36, suffering from burns on his back.  They found his burnt clothing in the home.  The victim told officers that he was about to enter his home when two people, one wearing a dark hooded jacket with the hood up, approached him on the front porch.  One of the men threw some type of liquid on his back, and lit the back of his clothes.  He ran inside to escape from the men and the men did not follow him into the home.  He was able to extinguish the fire and called out for help until a neighbor came to assist.  Officers developed information that the assault may be related to a domestic dispute involving a female that the victim knows.  The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment.  His injuries are not described as life threatening.  No arrests have been made and no other description of the suspects is available at this time.
