Citizens will be able to purchase 2015 DOG licenses starting Tuesday, December 16th, at SPD.
The Sheboygan Police Department will begin selling 2015 dog licenses on Tuesday, December 16th, 2014. Citizens will be able to purchase a dog license at the front desk of the Sheboygan Police Department, 1315 N 23rd Street, between the hours of 7:00 am until 10:00 pm.
The 2015 cat licenses are not available at this time.
Per Sheboygan Municipal Code Section 18-51, every dog kept in the city must have an annual license. The licenses are valid from January 1st through December 31st of each year. In order to obtain a license, the owner must present a CURRENT RABIES CERTIFICATE verifying the animal has been vaccinated against rabies by a LICENSED VETERINARIAN to the cashier. A rabies tag is NOT accepted as proof of the rabies vaccination. A dog license is $10.00 for neutered or spayed dogs and $15.00 for unaltered dogs.
If the owner requests to obtain a license via the mail, they must include a current rabies certificate(s) with a check made payable to the City of Sheboygan, and must also include a stamped, self-addressed envelope in order for the license(s), receipt(s) and rabies certificate(s) to be returned via mail.
On April 1st of each year and thereafter, if any owner is delinquent in taking out a current dog, license, there shall be a $5.00 penalty fee added to the cost of each license.
