At approximately 8:27 p.m. last night Burlington Police officers responded to North Winooski Avenue, between Pearl Street and Grant Street, for a report of possible gunshots. When officers arrived on scene the suspect was no longer in the area. Witnesses confirmed they heard what appeared to be the sound of gunfire and directed officers to a general vicinity where they believed they originated.
Officers searched the area and located several empty gun shell casings on the ground. They also noticed damage to a nearby tree. The damage may be the result of the targeted gunfire. Police have not received any reports of injury from the incident, and no firearms have been recovered at this time.
