Advisory

Rain, heavy surf, and high winds predicted for Thurs. and Fri. Exercise caution when storm conditions are present

This is a message from the Seal Beach Marine Safety Department regarding an upcoming weather event that may impact some coastal areas. The National Weather Service is forecasting a winter storm with strong winds and up to 1-2” of rain to arrive late Thursday and last into Friday. They have also issued a Beach Hazard Statement that is in effect from Tuesday morning through Saturday evening for high surf. The surf is expected to build through the week, culminating on Friday with 7-10 foot waves and sets up to 12-14 feet. The combination of high surf, rain and strong winds may cause some pooling of water along Seal Way. Homeowners are advised to monitor the surf and weather and take the necessary steps to protect their property.
