Two Morganton men charged with breaking into house; one charged with stealing from landlord

Detective Billie Brown of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 30-year-old Terence Floyd Duncan and 28-year-old Tony Lee Epperson, both of Morganton, with felony breaking and entering and felony larceny after breaking and entering.
Detective J.T. Grindstaff also charged Epperson with felony larceny and felony obtaining property by false pretense.
In Brown’s case, Rick Green, of Asheville, reported on Nov. 12 that someone broke into a home on Forest Lake Heights in Nebo and stole more than $6,000 worth of property, including a washing machine and dryer, a TV, money, stereo equipment, a DVD player and assorted DVDs and miscellaneous food items.
Brown said the investigation led to Duncan and Epperson, who once lived near Green’s residence on Forest Lake Heights.
Most of the property has been recovered, but deputies are still looking for a Franchi 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun. Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of the firearm can call Brown at 652-2237.
In Grindstaff’s case, Herman Hollifield, of Amelia Drive in Marion, reported on Oct. 15 that someone removed a washer and dryer and three cabinet drawers, worth a total of $1,500, from a house on Old Highway 10 East in Nebo.
Grindstaff said Epperson was renting the home from Hollifield, stole the items and took them to a local scrap yard.
The Sheriff’s Office does not have a photo of Epperson.
