Possible Sleepy Driver Hits Second Vehicle Head On
Clinton County-Today at approximately 12 noon on US 52 westbound just north of CR 880 west (that is approximately two miles north of the Boone/Clinton County line), a sleepy driver crossed the grassy median and struck a second vehicle head on.
Preliminary investigation by Sergeant Matthew Voorhees has shown that a red 1995 Honda Civic driven by Celeste G. Baker 21 of Westfield, IN was westbound on US 52 near CR 880 west. She allegedly fell asleep, crossed the grassy median and struck a blue 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche driven by Charles D. Allison, 51 of Lafayette, IN head on. Both vehicles received heavy front end damage.
Baker was injured in the crash and transported to IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette with no-life threatening injuries. Allison refused treatment at the scene. Baker was issued a citation for Left of Center. Assisting at the scene was Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, Clinton County Fire Department, Miller’s Towing and Galvin’s Towing.
Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
