12/7/14, press release: Motor Vehicle Accident with Injury

On December 7, 2014 at 1052 hours the Burlington Police responded to a motor vehicle accident with injury at the location of Main Street and S. Prospect St.

Multiple witnesses were on scene and gave statements. The investigation revealed that 19 year old Cassandra Crowley of Arlington, MA was driving her vehicle (2004 maroon Pontiac Aztec) eastbound on Main St. approaching S. Prospect with her 15 year old sister in the vehicle. Crowley reportedly ran the red light, and a vehicle southbound (2013 white VW Jetta) on S. Prospect St., driven by Katy Kennedy, 29, of Burlington was forced to strike Crowley’s vehicle in the front driver’s side quarter panel. Damage to the front of Crowley’s vehicle included moderate damage and damage to Kennedy’s vehicle included extensive front end damage. The roads were dry and the weather was not a factor.

Kennedy was transported to UVM Medical Center by Burlington Fire and Rescue with a possible neck injury. The injury at this time is not believed to be serious. Crowley and her sister declined medical attention and were believed to have only minor injuries from the airbag deployment on their vehicle.

Crowley was issued a VCVC for running the red light. The fine for this offense is $220 and 2 points.

The Burlington Police would like to remind operator’s of motor vehicles to obey all traffic signals to avoid serious motor vehicle accidents.
