12/5/14, press release: Motor Vehicle Accident
On December 5, 2014 at approximately 4:40 A.M., officers from the Burlington Police Department responded with the Burlington Fire Department to the area of Pine St. and Maple St. for a report of a motor vehicle that struck a telephone pole.
It was determined that Thomas Bridges, age 47 South Burlington, was operating a Chevrolet truck southbound on Pine St. when he struck a telephone pole on the green belt between Maple St. and King St. The force of the impact caused the telephone pole to break, but it did remain in place and did not cause an immediate hazard for people in the area. The vehicle’s airbag deployed and Bridges was transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center for evaluation. Bridges didn’t report any injuries as a result of the accident and alcohol/drugs do not appear to be a factor.
Burlington Electric Department crews also responded to the area and anticipate having to close off Pine St. between Maple St. and King St. for several hours this morning while they replace the pole. The accident remains under investigation and anybody with information is asked to contact Officer William Drinkwine at 802-540-2304.
