Domestic Violence Leads to Stabbing

On December 1, 2014 at approximately 8:50 p.m., Los Banos Police Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 700 block of Santa Barbara Street related to a disturbance. A witness told police that 37-year-old Katree Harvey stabbed the 40-year-old victim multiple during an argument. Officers learned the victim fled the residence following the attack to seek help.

Moments later, police received a 9-1-1 call from a home in the 800 block of Santa Barbara Street, requesting help for a man with stab wounds. The man reportedly ran to the residence for help after he was stabbed multiple times in the arms and legs by Harvey.

Officers learned that an argument ensued between the victim and Harvey, who are in a dating relationship. Harvey began stabbing the victim repeatedly in the arms and legs, and accidently cut herself during the attack.

“The Los Banos Police Department does not tolerate domestic violence; we take all family violence issues very seriously. Sadly, children suffer the most when their parents make poor choices and turn to violence.”
- Jason Hedden, Police Commander

The victim was treated and released at a Modesto area hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Katree Harvey was arrested and charged with felony domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon. Harvey remains in custody at the John Latoracca Correctional Center in lieu of $80,000.00 bail.

Harvey’s children witnessed the attack and were taken into custody by Merced County CPS.

This incident is currently under investigation and no further details will be released.
