Sturgeon Promoted to First Sergeant to Serve as Assistant Commander of the Information Technology Division

Indianapolis, IN- Recently, Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter promoted Sergeant Nick Sturgeon to the rank of first sergeant to serve as assistant commander of the Indiana State Police Information Technology Division after competing in a stringent written and oral interview process.

Sturgeon is a native of Rockport, Indiana and a 1999 graduate of South Spencer High School. He graduated from Indiana State University with a B.S. in Management Information Systems in 2003 and is currently attending Purdue University Graduate School College of Technology working on a Master’s of Science in Computer and Information Technology with a specialization in Cyber Forensics.

Sturgeon began his law enforcement career in 2007 upon graduation from the 67th Indiana State Police Academy. He was assigned to the Indianapolis Post where he worked until his promotion to sergeant in 2009 to serve as a Computer Generalist in the Criminal Justice Data Division.

His duties will be to assist in management of the Information Technology Section which includes the Firearms Licensing, Systems and Programming, Telecommunications, Systems Security and Audit, and the FARS Units. The Information Technology Section is responsible for managing and supporting all the Information Technology systems and applications for the Indiana State Police.

First Sergeant Sturgeon resides in Marion County.
