WHERE: 900 Block of Chorro and Nipomo at Broad

WHEN: December 3, 2014 at 5:40 PM

SUSPECT: Unknown Hispanic Male, Approximately 18 Years Old

DEPARTMENT CONTACT: Sergeant Chad Pfarr

On December 3, 2014, at 5:40 PM, Officers were dispatched to the report of a robbery which had just occurred in the 900 block of Chorro Street. The lone female victim called 911 to report she was walking on Chorro when an unknown Hispanic male, approximately 18 years old, ran past her and grabbed her purse. As the suspect fled towards the Mission Plaza he dropped the victim’s purse. The suspect continued running through the Mission Plaza, leaving the dropped purse behind. The victim in this case recovered her own purse.

As officers were searching the area for the suspect in the first robbery, a second robbery was reported. This robbery occurred in the 900 block of Nipomo near the entrance to the Creamery. The second victim was also a lone female walking with a hand bag containing her purse. The victim reported a Hispanic male; approximately 18-20 years old ran up from behind, grabbing her bag as he past and then fleeing into the Creamery.

This victim began screaming that she had just been robbed. An alert citizen saw the suspect running from the scene and gave chase as the suspect fled into the creek behind the Creamery. The suspect found himself on a very steep portion of the bank to the creek with limited avenues of escape. The citizen ordered the suspect to bring him the stolen bag which the suspect did before fleeing North on Nipomo Street.

The suspect in both cases was described as a Hispanic male, approximately 18-20 years old, 5’-02” tall, weighing about 140 pounds. The suspect was last seen wearing a black Raider’s hat, a dark two-toned hoodie and dark pants.

No weapons were used in either robbery and there were no injuries reported. If you have any information related to these robberies you are encouraged to call the Police Department.
